October at HVCC

Contrary to the beautiful weather, fall is officially underway and October is here. We have enjoyed September and are excited to see what new things we can do and how we can make the old things even better. If you have thoughts or ideas, please let us know!

This is going to be an exciting month at HVCC. We have a big event to prepare for, so we will be canceling our Friday Program on Friday, October 7th. We will resume swim lessons on October 14th though! We will continue attending Hooper on Fridays until Friday, November 18th.

Several of our program directors have an opportunity to attend a statewide conference as a 21st Century Community Learning Center – to make this possible, we will be canceling program on Tuesday, October 18th. We are really excited for this chance to learn new things and meet other OST professionals from across the state.

October 20th is Lights on Afterschool – the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families and communities. This year, we will be offering full day programming (8am to 5pm) because our kindergarten through sixth graders will not have school due to parent-teacher conferences. Remember you can easily support the valuable work we do at HVCC with a small monthly donation: www.theHVCC.org/invest

New this year, we have a staff person at the Del Norte High School from 4:00 to 5:30 Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays – if you need a little extra help with schoolwork, staying off or getting of the ineligibility list, stop by and see us! Or, if you just need a snack, stop and see us! We’ll be in the back of the commons area and are happy to hang out!
