10.19.21 Updates
Team Black will practice on Tuesday from 5:00pm to 6:15pm
Team Orange will practice on Tuesday from 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Thursday: Both teams will practice from 5:00 to 6:00 so you can attend Family Night at school!
Please remember we want each of our basketball players, their friends, and families, to treat one another with respect and exhibit appropriate behavior. Good sportsmanship means being fair and ethical to those you're playing with—both your teammates and the opponents—and is especially crucial for young athletes to learn!
The current schedule is no longer accurate. We have updated our website calendar -- www.theHVCC.org/calendar -- to reflect the changes that we currently have. We will add the schedules and get them to you as soon as we have all of the changes.
We do understand how frustrating all of these changes are, but we're working with 6 teams, 6 coordinators, 6 gyms, and even more coaches. Fortunately, we have our own gym and our teams are established for the season. We will work to keep things as structured as possible during these changes and transitions.
Also, it might seem strange to be asked to check your kiddo in or out for sports. Our funding and policies require that we know who is currently participating in an HVCC Program and how and when they leave. If you don't know your PIN, it isn't a big deal; we can look it up for you quite easily. Just give our tablet-yielding staff a little patience and help us collect good data and provide a bit of safety.

We will have two 5th and 6th grade basketball teams this year due to not having enough girls to have a 3rd and 4th grade team. 3rd and 4th graders were mixed into the two teams evenly. You'll be Team Orange and Team Black. (You will have the most awesome - not orange or blank uniforms though. ;)
Team Black will be coached by Leroy Trujillo and Kim Fresquez.
Team Orange will be coached by Trish Archuleta and Crystal Maxwell.
If you would like to ref, assist, or are available to fill in on occasion, please let us know!
Practices
Begin next week -- October 5th.
Team Black will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm (This may change after MS Volleyball ends.)
Team Orange will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Please be sure to bring water to practice and games!
Games
Games will be Wednesdays and Saturdays. On the dates that DN vs DN are scheduled, there will be an alternate activity -- we'll update you as we get closer!
Transportation
HVCC will provide transportation to the gym at 5:30 and 6:30. All players must be picked up at the gym.
Transportation will not be provided for games.
Uniforms
HVCC will provide uniforms for the games. These will be signed out to you and will need to be returned at the end of the season.
You will receive a jersey and shorts. The shorts are black and the jerseys are gray and pink and we hope you'll love them! These numbers will not be the same as your HVCC sports number to work with the basketball numbering system.
You will need to have gym/basketball shoes.
Communication
HVCC will continue to provide communication through our Procare app. You will have the most success with this system if you download the app. If you need assistance or need your code sent, just give us a call.
You can always call the main HVCC line at 719-657-2172 as well.
