Meals For The Road
HVCC + URGSD | Supported through EARSS
Through a partnership between Upper Rio Grande School District and High Valley Community Center (HVCC), and with support from the District's Expelled and At-Risk Student Services (EARSS) funding, HVCC is able to provide free meals for students traveling to away sports and school activities.
This partnership is one way we can remove a small but meaningful barrier to student participation. When students are staying engaged in athletics, activities, clubs, and other positive school experiences, we want to help make sure every kid has something to eat while they're on the road.

We plan
HVCC uses District Sports Calendar to plan meals. You don't need to request meals for each trip in a season.
Pick up
Coaches or Sponsors are responsible for making sure meals are picked up before departure.
Kids eat
Meals are there to support students traveling with your team or activity.
Kids who aren't hungry always perform better!

Let us know if we're sending too many or too few and we'll adjust!
Return HVCC cooler bags clean and promptly so they're ready for the next game or trrip!

STUDENT FIRST. ATHLETE SECOND
Need a little help keeping your student-athletes students and athletes?
FREE TUTORING | GRADES 7 -12 | TUESDAYS + WEDNESDAYS AFTER SCHOOL @ DNHS
Through the same URGSD + HVCC partnership, students in grades 7–12 have access to after-school tutoring at HVCC on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We meet in the "Tutoring Corner" - food is provided - teachers are there to support, encourage, and connect anyone who can benefit from extra help.
Coaches — use us. Send an individual student who needs some extra support, encourage athletes to come before grades become an eligibility problem, or bring the team when everyone could use some dedicated homework time.
Teachers — join us. We want students learning from the people who know them and their coursework. Teachers can be paid to tutor at HVCC and are encouraged to connect students who could benefit from extra help.
